ORLANDO, Fla. - With the 2019-20 AAU Hockey season just underway, the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is thrilled to announce the addition of the Ohio Valley Hockey Association (OVHA) to the AAU Ice Hockey fold. AAU Hockey recently became the sixth largest sport in the Union and continues to grow exponentially each year.

The Ohio Valley Hockey Association was formed in 2019 in Wheeling, West Virginia, a town that has hosted the sport of hockey for more than 50 years. The community has welcomed the new league with open arms. Currently there are Timbits, Mites, Squirts and Bantam/Peewee divisions, consisting of over 250 players. Athletes herald from three different states in the surrounding area.

The teams are excited to compete primarily in house and then take skills they have acquired to road tournaments. The OVHA will teach thousands of children the love of the game, while they not only have fun, but also exercise during the winter months.

OVHA also has paired with the Nailers, an East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) professional hockey team. The Nailers’ teammates come out and practice with the children and host several family night promotional games.

The OVHA will be a great addition for the children of the Ohio Valley and AAU Hockey.
