The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Roller Hockey League (PIRHL) hosted its annual coaches education-training courses this past weekend with over 350 inline hockey coaches in attendance.  The clinic took place at the Blade Runners Ice Complex located in Pittsburgh, PA.  The clinic was presented by former USA Rollers Sport National team coach Jeff Prime and current Team USA Women’s coach Charlie Sgrillo.  The clinic ran from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.  All the coaches in attendance received their coaching credentials for the upcoming season, which is due to start October 6 and team building binders put together with education and training materials.

PIRHL President Jon Roux commented on the success of the clinic and the positive feedback that league has been receiving since the weekend.  The PIRHL based on the huge success of this year’s event is planning to hold more coaching and player education training sessions in the near future and will announce the dates and times of those events soon.

The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Roller Hockey League is the largest High School Roller Hockey League in the United States consisting of over 36 different school districts, which makes up 121 teams from the Elementary to the Varsity level.  The league has 60 plus registered referee’s and over 2500 registered AAU Members. The PIRHL operates it season from September to March of each year.  The league utilizes five different rinks located throughout the Pittsburgh Area, Robert Morris University Island Sports Center, Blade Runners Ice Complex, Butler Family Sports Center, Hotshots Sports Arena and Bridgeville Rollerplex.
